Lana Poklad, Artistic Director and Conductor
Lana Poklad studied Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting at the Odessa State Conservatory of Music in the Ukraine graduating with a Master's Degree in 1997. Concurrently she attended a Theater College performing leading roles in numerous operas and dramatic productions.
Following the completion of her studies she founded a Children's Musical Theater where she taught singing and acting techniques. Among her students are winners of International Singing Competitions in Italy, Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Canada. Prior to her arrival in the Bay Area in 2000, she worked for the Odessa City Hall in the youth programs department and also collaborated with Ukrainian Television.
Being an enthusiastic musician, Lana constantly works on perfecting her musical skills fearlessly immersing herself in diverse musical projects. For the last five years she has prepared several large-scale concerts with the Vallejo Choral Society including Beethoven’s Mass in C and 9th Symphony Choral Finale, Saint-Saens’ Christmas Oratorio and Haydn’s St Nicolas Mass and The Creation. She has collaborated as a choral director with the North Bay Opera on their production of the opera,“Eugene Onegin”. She provided music direction for musical theater productions with the Vallejo Music Theatre including The Fiddler on the Roof and The Sound of Music. She brought her knowledge and love of the baroque style to our community while directing Handel’s Messiah and Purcell’s opera, "Dido and Aeneas".
Currently, Lana maintains a vocal and piano studio as well as performing as a freelance soprano soloist. In addition to directing the Vallejo Choral Society she leads the Campanelli Children’s Choir and works as the music director for the Living Word Fellowship Presbyterian Church in Fairfield.
